Beth Roalstad, Executive Director

"We are effective with both women and girls because we care about building a relationship with each participant – we truly care about each person."
Beth Roalstad has headed WRA as executive director since January 2008. Under her visionary and productive leadership, the organization has become the resource for all women and girls in the community – vulnerable girls, self-directed students, adult job seekers, professionals and retirees.
"We serve them all, and we connect them all to each other to create a stronger community," she says. Meeting clients "where they are" helps WRA identify individual needs and guide them in a beneficial direction while still honoring their goals and desires, Roalstad says.
Although she has worked for other nonprofit organizations, as well as in retail stores, at corporations and for U.S. Congressmen, Roalstad finds this position fits her best, because she is a natural advocate and connector who enjoys helping people, especially disenfranchised women and girls.
"I'm so proud of this organization. We transform the lives of participants and volunteers and everyone we touch. Donors tell us we enrich their lives as well, by being able to help others in need."
Brenna Gomez, InterCept Program Manager

"I wanted to work somewhere that wouldn’t just be a job. I wanted to be doing something meaningful. We assist women and girls in finding their own personal power and using it to make changes in their lives."
Brenna Gomez, InterCept Program Manager since August 2009, graduated from Colorado College in May 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in English : Creative Writing and a minor in Feminist and Gender Studies. She did a fellowship at the Women’s Resource Agency over the summer and now flexes her interest in teaching by running the eighth grade girls' leadership program in Harrison School District #2.
"It's perfect for me because we're discussing huge topics with young girls in hopes that they will develop leadership to help others and stay away from common teenage mistakes," Brenna said. "They learn the difference between a risk factor for suicide and a warning sign, for example, information most their age don’t get."
She also enjoys the staff. "We have a well-rounded team of diverse individuals who can see all sides of an issue. We have so many different perspectives here that a woman is that much more likely to find someone to connect with."
Aubrey Terry, Director of Programs

"With the Women’s Resource Agency, women can discover their absolute power and potential."
Aubrey Terry, who holds a Masters in Social Work, began working at the Women’s Resource Agency in August 2008 as an intern, creating support groups and stress classes for participants. "I enjoy being able to empower women through some difficult times in their lives," she said. "We meet the client where they are and develop individualized plans of action. Women don’t just change here, they transform."
She became Director of Support Services in June 2009. Aubrey has 11 years of nonprofit experience, working with populations affected by domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health issues, poverty, health concerns and other problems. She values the "love and compassion" of the staff at the Women’s Resource Agency, along with the ability to place the client first.
"Our mission is to help women for however long and in whatever ways they need. My experience working with other nonprofits is that there are often restrictions to client care. At the Women’s Resource Agency, we focus on building relationships, creating a network of trust and pathways for a new life filled with empowered thinking."
Marli Fitzgerald, Intercept Too Program Manager
marli@wrainc.org
Marli joined the Women's Resource Agency staff in June, 2011, shortly after graduating with her Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver where she studied clinical social work with a family systems focus and received a certificate in Interpersonal Trauma Studies. Marli was thrilled with the opportunity to return to the agency as an employee after having completed an internship with WRA in 2010. "I love this organization", Marli says. "There is a sense of optimism and genuine compassion here that I have not experienced elsewhere".
As the InterCept Too Program Manager, Marli works with teen girls in the juvenile justice system, a position she feels honored to have. "Navigating the path of self-discovery, relationships, and life choices is incredibly challenging" says Marli. "When you couple that journey with family hardship and economic disadvantage, the odds of success can seem close to impossible."
Marli values her role as a mentor and advocate for adjudicated girls. "I strongly believe that all young women have the right to be proud of themselves and the decisions they make-regardless of circumstances. That's why I wanted to work at WRA. I want to be a positive influence in the lives of young women by teaching them healthy ways to overcome obstacles and by empowering them to pursue their dreams".
Sherri Albertson, Community Relations and

No ray of sunshine is ever lost,
but the green which it awakens into existence needs time to sprout,
and it is not always granted for the sower to see the harvest.
All the work that is worth anything is done in faith.

“The Women's Resource Agency has completely transformed my life. I am very passionate about what WRA is all about and I love watching the transformations in women that WRA has seen in me.”
I started out at WRA as a client. I am a single mother and, like all of the other women that come through our doors, I was finding it difficult to find employment. I had worked in various jobs that I knew would never go anywhere. I heard about a program through WRA that was just what I needed. The Motherhood Program was geared specifically toward women that faced the same issues that I was facing. After taking all of the job readiness courses, interview training, and resume classes I started working with The Women's Resource Agency as an intern. The office and administrative skills I learned during this time were absolutely priceless. I gained a great deal of confidence in myself working with the ladies at WRA. I have also acquired leadership skills that help me out tremendously. When my internship ended I came back as a volunteer. I am now working with WRA and I love every minute of it.
Since I began my journey with WRA I have received an Associates degree and I am currently working on my Bachelor's in Business Management. Being where I have been and seeing where I am now is incredibly beneficial to both myself and the ladies I work with every day. I see it as proof positive that things can turn around for the better.
