Individual Planning & Consultation

A program specialist meets with a woman (or man) for an hour and a half appointment and helps her (or him) develop a plan of action to meet specific, career-related, short and long term goals.  The action plan may include updating or creating a resume, getting further training through our computer classes , identifying personal characteristics through the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, exploring career options, and/or going back to school for her dream career.

MBTI can help you learn more about yourself and understand why others are different from you. By determining your preferences, this personality test can indicate a good-fitting career and/or get along better with co-workers. Call for fee and registration information.

Career Corner

Computer Lab

Our computer lab available for use whenever a class is not in session. The easiest way to make sure the computers will be available is to call ahead as not all classes are listed on the calendar. Our computers are equipped with Windows Me, Microsoft Office Suite, and Mavis Beacon 11 (a fun, user-friendly typing program) to give you the tools you need to update your skills.  If you need additional assistance, you can take our fun, friendly computer classes.

Job Book

Our books contain many job opportunities in Colorado Springs and around the state.  The listings are faxed or emailed into our office, or downloaded from the internet and available for browsing during office hours.  As we are not an employment agency, we do not screen employers or applicants; our clients contact the employer themselves.  If you have an opening you would like us to include in our book, you may email it or fax it to (719) 471-3197.  Remember to include a job description, location, hours, and contact information. 

Referrals

As a small organization, we cannot meet the needs of all women, so we collaborate with other agencies to give accurate referrals.  The Women's Resource Agency is part of the Family Empowerment Team , a collaboration of 9 agencies that work together to provide comprehensive services to families and children. We also refer clients to other agencies outside of our collaboration.
