InterCept
Mission:
The InterCept Leadership & Mentoring Program exists to empower young women to develop the skills and courage to make healthy life choices. InterCept does this by encouraging young women to realize their value so that they create positive life change that reaches their peers and community.
The Program:
Selection - InterCept women are selected in the eighth grade by InterCept facilitators with the aid of school counselors, and is based on natural leadership skills, strong personalities and life experience and/or exceptional people skills.
Camp - After selection the young women are invited to an experiential camp which combines team-building exercises with character education to introduce them to the principles of InterCept.
Middle School Daily Program - Eighth grade InterCept participants take InterCept as a class for a trimester that gives them the tools to achieve InterCept's Top Five Goals.
High School Program - The program continues in the high school with monthly pizza parties, large group presentations, small group meetings, one-on-ones, the Anti-Tobacco Coalition, and the True Life Interactive program.*
*True Life Interactive is sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
